Assessment of big cats (Felidae) welfare kept in zoological garden

Abstract

Knowledge about maintenance, nutrition and providing adequate living conditions for living animals kept in zoological gardens in constantly being expanded by conducting scientific research and behavioral observations. The aim of the study was to assess the welfare of big cats in zoological garden in Kraków based on the evaluation if sanitary and hygienic conditions and behavioral observations. The reproductive success achieved among the felines kept in tested object showed their good welfare.
