Stan i znaczenie drzewostanów przedplonowych w zagospodarowaniu obszarów górskich na przykładzie Leśnego Zakładu Doświadczalnego w Krynicy

Abstract

The paper presents the problems of forest development on non-used arable lands in the mountains. Dimensions and importance of former agricultural lands afforestation in Poland is characterized with special consideration of mountain territories (Carpathian Euroregion). On the example of Forest Experimental Station (FES) in Krynica the assessment of conversion degree of different type mountain forecrop stands was made. The degree of stand conversion was determined on the basis of methodical assumption of Valorization System of Mountain Forest Assessment. Comparison of species composition of forecrop stands with target species compositions revealed that in 2008, when stands age was between 47 and 68 years only 18.5% of stands were finally converted and 41.8% partially converted. But according to adopted criteria conversion should be finished on 81.6% of stands area. The most advantageous changes from silvicultural point of view took place in stands classified in year 1966 as mixed European larch stand and next Scots pine stand and grey alder stand.
