Charakterystyka gleb na zalesionych obiektach starego górnictwa galmanowego

AbstractThe Chrzanów - Trzebinia region was known for exploitation o f lead-zinc ores as early as the XII century. One o f the oldest extraction methods o f lead-zinc-bearing dolomite ores was shallow exploitation. As a result o f exploitation, post-calamine mining sites named warpie are typical o f the area. Postcalamine mining sites were afforested in the middle o f the XIX century. Investigations at these sites were conducted in tree stands composed o f European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) and Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) on a chronosequence with 55-, 80-, and 125-year old stands. The control plots were established on natural forest sites with 125-year-old tree stands o f European beech growing on Rendzic Leptosols (according to WRB 2006) developed on Triassic dolomites. The results show that soil parameters vary in profiles as a result o f the mixing o f different substrates (Triassic and Quaternary rocks) connected to the exploitation method. The soils are characterized by a high content o f stones, alkaline pH, high percentage o f base saturation and total exchangeable bases dominated by calcium. Organic-mineral horizons and cambic diagnostic horizons were found in soils depending on their age. High concentrations o f non-toxic forms o f the trace elements (Zn, Pb, Cd) in post-calamine mining sites was the most significant difference in comparison to the natural soils. We propose that this soil be classified as a subtype o f the initial rendzina and brown Rendzina soil, which is important for diagnosis o f forest sites and tree stand species composition with domination o f European beech.
