Wpływ obecności intensywnych zapachów w otoczeniu pułapek na ich zasiedlanie przez korniki w drzewostanach świerkowych

Abstract

The semiochemicals odours affecting I. typographusand P. chalcographuscolonisation efficiency of trap−treeswith and without synthetic pheromone were studied during the year 2008 in spruce stands of southernPoland. In case of both trap−tree types, the game repellent (hukinol) increases the intensity of I. typographusinfestation, whereas the opposite was true for butyric acid and mercaptan. P. chalcographus infestation of trap−trees surrounded by aromatic intensive volatiles of mercaptan and butyric acid was more numerousthan in traps being under the influence of odours revealed from hukiniol. However, the positive reactionon hukinol aroma expressed by high values of P. chalcographuscolonisation index was found for trap−treeswith pheromone Ipsodor. Considering obtained the results, forest protection by using of hukinol againstgame in spruce stands with a high frequency of P. chalcographus and I. typographus population should be thought over. In such conditions, the presence of game aromatic repellents based on derivatives of aliphatic carboxylic and valeric acids can contribute to higher bark beetle infestation and can lead to masstrees decay.
