Registering traditional food products in Romania

Promoting traditional food products is beneficial for rural economy and preserving our culture. In Romania, there are 2 systems for registering traditional foodstuff: national and European. Updated legislation and institutions are needed for proper implementation of EU system. Special legislation is important to allow farmers to engage in small scale food processing and direct selling activities. This is crucial for creating the opportunities for rural population to increase their incomes and for preserving our culture and our traditions.
