AbstractDuring 2008–2009 studies were conducted on the species composition of galls occurring on the leaves of common ash Fraxinus excelsior L. in a protected area — the Ojców National Park and the Przedborski Protected Landscape. In each of selected localities 2000 leaves (4000 in total) were randomly collected. A total of 3,788 galls, including 1840 in the Ojców NP were found (Tabs. 1 and 2). The species composition of the galls was similar in two areas during two consecutive years. Dasineura fraxinea (Kief.) (Diptera, Cecidomyiidae) was the most abundant species in the Ojców NP in both years, while Psyllopsis fraxini L. (Homoptera, Psyllidae) — in the Przedborski PL (Tabs. 1 and 2). The index of occurrence frequency (F) reached the highest value in the case of D. fraxinea (0.729 in the Ojców NP in 2009) and the lowest for Prociphilus fraxini (0.004 in the Ojców NP in 2009). The frequency of galls occurrence varied in the investigated localities during two years (Tabs. 1 and 2). On the basis of the Agrell’s index of species co-occurrence it was shown that the strongest bond existed between Dasineura fraxinea and Psyllopsis fraxini in both localities (Tabs. 3–6).
