Soil, as the main link of chemical element cycling in nature plays an extremely import ant role for maintaining homeostasis in the environment. Natural environment contamination with heavy metals is considered particularly dangerous as their excessive concentrations in soil cause their penetration with nutrients to the soil -> plant animal man food chain. The phenomenon poses a considerable threat to all populations. Soil contamination with heavy metals has vanous local and regional sources. Analysed soil and plants in the vicinity of Chetm cement Mill are exposed to its negative impact. Their properties are mainly changed by pollution with alkaline cement dust. Beside dust emission also wastes of chromite-magnesite bricks deposited on the cement plant landfill have a negative impact.
