Evaluation of the usefulness of different GPS receivers for performing scouting jobs
AbstractThe following three GPS receivers were subject to evaluation: GARMIN iQue 3600, 3R-GPS working with two antennas and Holux M1000C. Evaluation of the first two receivers concerned influence of the measuring conditions on the result of area measurements of three objects having different size and shape as well as on the accuracy of navigation to the points logged on the site. Different day time, two speeds of movement during making measurements, two modes and two frequencies of logging the coordi nates and two radii of the range of measurement were assumed as variable conditions. On the basis of the obtainedresults it was stated that no significant influence of the above mentioned measuring conditions on the measured area of the objects was found. With regard to the navigation accuracy, it wassatisfactory with use of both mentionedGPS receivers. The HOLUX M1000C GPS receiver evaluation consisted of comparison of the periphery of two objects made by meansof this receiver, characterized by high accuracy of measurements. It turned out that the accuracy of HOLUX M100C is similar.
