The infrastructure of food trade in rural areas as a factor of life quality in the opinion of commune swellers form the Malopolska region
AbstractFulfilling needs, primarily food needs by means of shopping is the most apparent form of human activity on a mass scale. While creating better or worse conditions for the acquisition of goods, the trade affects the quality of life of the society using it. Polish rural areas are undergoing transformations, however changes in trade happen there much slower than in the cities. New shops emerge in rural areas relatively rarely. The most often the hitherto existing outlets are reorganized. Additionally, proximity of urban centres poses a threat for rural trade. The more so as modern proximity of urban centres poses a threat for rural trade. The more so as modern distribution channels enter not only large city agglomerations but also smaller towns and other localities. Rural trade infrastructure is connected with off-farm activities pursued by the local inhabitants. It is primarily composed of small family shops, mobile trade outlets or small open air markets.
