AbstractThe contradiction between conditions existing in the streams built over in a technical way and the demands of natural environment has become the reason for quest of the new forms of stream regulation. The solution ensuring the needs and demands of all users seems to be the methods which stabilize the streams by utilization of the natural elements increasing roughness. The effect of search for a construction both capable of the technical and natural demands is the rapid built of natural stone. The presented dissertation concerns the determination of water surface profile and the local erosions in the zone of rapid with the increased roughness. The dissertation thesis are developed in six chapters. Chapter 2 comprises a synthetic review of investigations in the field of planning and construction of rapids with the increased roughness which have been undertaken by foregin researchers up till now. The hydraulic model testings done for eight variants of rapids with the increased roughness are given in chapter 3. These model testings served to determine the water surface profile on the rapid and in the zone of its influence, the maximal velocity and its distance from the rapid and deformation of not (strengthened) bottom section below the rapid. The results obtained were the basis to verify the mathemetical models of the water surface profile and the regresion functions defining the interdependence among the rapid parameters. In chapter 4 the shape of function approximating the water surface profile at the inflow and outflow from the rapid was established. The error analysis and the interval evaluation were done for all solutions. The methods to determine the regression model for the effect of rapid parameters on the changes of maximal velocity bellow the rapid are presented in chapter 5. The model of multiple regression with three independent variables including slope of rapid, height of rapid and depth of water in the stream bed was applied. In chapter 6 the method of setting the water surface profile on the rapid according to free variable steady water motion was suggested. The research methods for bottom erosion below the rapid are presented in chapter 7 and the algorithm for the evaluation of erosion size, depending on the rapid parameters, is submitted. Chapter 8 contains the general conclusion dealing with rapids. They are the results of the regressiim analysis and mathematical models verified by the measured data obtained on the hydraulic model.
